When she did not come home, she was reported missing to the police at around 11pm.

Officers searched for her in Irvine, Largs and around North Ayrshire but found no trace.

Thankfully, after publishing an appeal for help from the public, Police Scotland confirmed Kerys had been traced safe and well.

The 12-year-old did have her phone but had no money and the fact she had been missing overnight was 'a concern for everyone'.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Thank you very much for sharing our appeal on 12-year-old Kerys Lynch, who was missing from her home in Kilwinning since, Monday, 14 September.

"Kerys has now been traced and is safe and well."

Previously, Sergeant Claire Walker, Irvine Police Station, said: "When Kerys didn't return home last night, and after not being able to trace her, she was reported missing to police around 11pm.

"We have had officers out searching and making enquires in the areas she is known to frequent, usually, Irvine, Largs and around North Ayrshire, but so far we have had no sight of her.

"The fact that she has been away overnight, and as she is only 12-years-old, is a concern for everyone.

"It appears that she may be in the North Ayrshire area, possibly Irvine, but that has very much still to be confirmed.

"She has no money with her as far as we are aware but has her phone.

"We would ask people to keep an eye out for her and if seen, please contact police. We would appeal especially to Kerys' friends - if she has been in touch then let us know. We just want to make sure she is safe and well."
