A THUG broke a man’s nose in a row over a jacket.

Thomas Hansen, 29, turned on Stephen Agnew outside a snooker hall in Glasgow city centre in January this year.

Hansen headbutted Mr Agnew amid claims he was stealing from a work colleague’s coat.

Hansen pleaded guilty at Glasgow Sheriff Court to the assault to Mr Agnew’s severe injury and permanent disfigurement.

The court the pair were on separate nights out at Reardon’s snooker hall.

Prosecutor Hannah Terrance said: “The accused approached him and said ‘wit you saying’ before he thrust his head towards Mr Agnew’s face, making contact with his nose.”

Blood poured from Mr Agnew’s nose as Hansen fled the scene.

Mr Agnew was discovered to have sustained a broken nose in hospital.

Miss Terrance said: "The nose was realigned under general anaesthetic but he has been left with a curve as a result of the incident.”

Hansen was traced and arrested meantime.

Lawyer Mark Chambers, defending, told the court Hansen’s work colleague had been kicked out for being too drunk.

He stated Hansen went to get his colleague's jacket before coming across Mr Agnew outside.

Mr Chambers added: “Mr Agnew made reference to Mr Devlin stealing from the jacket and he took offence to that.”

Sentence was deferred until next month for background reports by Sheriff Sean Murphy QC who bailed the dad-of-one from the city’s Cambuslang meantime.
