RAIL services to and from Ayrshire have been cancelled after a person was tragically hit by a train.
Scotrail confirmed the news this morning with trains between Ardrossan, Irvine and Ayr delayed or cancelled as the train operator worked alongside emergency services.
A ScotRail spokesman said: "Unfortunately we have had reports of a person being struck by a train between Glengarnock and Lochwinnoch
"We are working closely with emergency services during this time and will keep you updated."
Disruption is expected to last until around 9.30am today.
