Kilwinning Eglinton Fishing club treated a group of military veterans to a day out recently, and they enjoyed the warm sunshine.

The group settled down to fish at the Eglinton Loch while reminiscing of days gone by.

They spent almost five hours fishing and enjoying each others company.

Some colourful language was used when one ‘show-off’ three trees before eventually landing the bait in the water.

Despite a lack in catches, the good weather and peaceful surroundings made for a relaxing excursion.

A spokesperson for the group said: “Military training took over as we were hidden from view from each other as we got our tackle out and prepared.

“Overall a great day and our grateful thanks goes to the President Tam Walker and Committee of the Kilwinning Eglinton Angling Club for allowing us a free and socially distanced day out.”

In the past the troupe would have regrouped to the pub, but due to current circumstances the vets, from Largs, Irvine and the Three Towns, went their separate ways.
