The former coal terminal at Hunterston was transformed to replicate the naval base at Faslane as filming for the BBC’s new thriller Vigil concluded in Ayrshire.

The Herald has obtained exclusive images of how the set looked, which included a replica peace camp.

The six-part-drama stars Scottish actors Martin Compston, Rose Leslie and Gary Lewis as well as actress Suranne Jones.

Produced by World Productions – the makers of hit dramas Line of Duty and Bodyguard – Vigil centres around the mysterious disappearance of a Scottish fishing trawler and a death on-board a Trident nuclear submarine.
