An aspirational Ardrossan music star has marked a spectacular milestone in her career as she has released her first EP.

Nicola Evans, 30, from Ardrossan recently released her very own EP, ‘Hunter’, showing off her individual and distinctive style of song writing which many people have already fallen in love with.

Nico grew up in Ardrossan, attending Winton Primary school where her favourite weekly lesson was always music.

The artist said: “Singing and songwriting is something I’ve loved since I was a little girl and it’s just something that came naturally to me.

“Growing up I learned how to play guitar and other instruments and I have always enjoyed it.

“For a good few years, I wasn’t formally songwriting until one of my friends encouraged me to enter a competition.

“It hadn’t even struck me that people would be interested in my songs or even listen to them but after deciding to enter the competition, I won, and I was absolutely over the moon.”

The competition turned out to be a life changer for Nico, giving her the confidence to develop her skills and further her ambitions to become an independent artist.

When asked what the biggest part of her music career has been so far, Nicola said: “Everything to do with the EP has been a huge milestone and I am just so excited for everyone to hear it.

“It’s a bit of a shame that we haven’t been able to have a launch party due to the current circumstances but I’m just so excited that it’s finally getting released.”

Nicola has gone on to write and record a catalogue of original material and develop her own distinctive style. She has performed at Celtic connections, been broadcast live on several radio stations, performed in iconic Glasgow venues, supported established artists and featured in the Songwriters and Composers Magazine.

She added: “This EP will be the first of many to be released and I also have an album coming out hopefully at the start of 2021 which I’m really excited to share with everyone.”

As well as her first EP, Nico has created a music video with Philip Edge, who she has worked with the past.
