The A737 carriageway will be closed at certain times over the next week while maintenance is carried out on the Manrahead Roundabout.

Work will take place overnight on the A737 Manrahead Roundabout to Whitestanes, south of Beith, between 8pm and 6am each night from Saturday, October 24, to Thursday, October 29.

Around 8,000 drivers use the road every day, and the work, worth £140,000, aims to reduce the need for future maintenance.

The A737 carriageway will be closed for five nights between 8pm and 6am, with a signed diversion route taking drivers on to the B777 to B780 Dalry Road, and from there to re-join the A737 at Dalry.

There will be a 2-way traffic light system temporarily erected on the roundabout, in operation between 8pm and 6am.

A spokesperson for Amey, the company that is contracted to look after the South West Trunk Roads Network, said: "All schemes are weather dependent and may be cancelled or rescheduled if weather conditions are not favourable.

"This scheme has been planned in consultation with Transport Scotland, Traffic Scotland, the emergency services, bus operators and North Ayrshire Council."
