AYRSHIRE has been issued with a Yellow weather warning as heavy rain batters the region.

The downpours could risk flooding to homes and businesses, resulting in damage to some buildings.

Rail and bus services could also be impacted, with delays and cancellations possible.

The Met Office issued the Yellow warning for rain between 9am today (Thursday, October 29) and midnight.

They have warned that there is a “small chance” of fast flowing or deep floodwater posing a danger to life.

Train services between Largs/Ardrossan and Kilwinning will be impacted by high waves at Saltcoats.

ScotRail have made changes to the service be placing a diesel train service between Largs and Kilwinning, which will then terminate, before passengers can board the regular service to Glasgow Central.

Motorists on Ayrshire’s roads have also been warned of possible risks when driving.

The Met Office said: “Spray and flooding could lead to difficult driving conditions and some road closures.”
