A car was set on fire in Ardrossan in a 'reckless act' that could have been 'catastrophic'.
The vehicle, parked in the driveway of a home on Boydston Road, was set alight on Monday [November 9] night between 7.45 and 8pm.
Fire crews attended and extinguished the flames and police are investigating the incident.
The vehicle was damaged in the blaze but nobody was injured.
Officers are appealing for the help of the public to trace those responsible.
Detective Sergeant Stephen McCulloch at Saltcoats CID said: “This was an extremely reckless act and the consequences could have been catastrophic had the fire spread.
"I would ask anyone who may have any information which might help us catch those responsible to call us on 101, quoting the reference number 3438 of November 9, 2020.
