A MAN has been arrested and charged in connection with a theft from a van containing pet ashes.
Police confirmed that they have arrested a 39-year-old man after the alleged break in and theft from a van in Drumleyhill Drive, Hurlford on Monday, November 9.
He was held in police custody to appear at court and a full report has been sent to the Procurator Fiscal.
Chief Inspector Steven Meikle, Area Commander in East Ayrshire, said: "We would like to thank the community for their assistance in this investigation, their information proved extremely helpful.
"We are committed to working with communities and our partners to tackle issues of local concern and crimes of dishonesty remain a top priority.
"This type of crime can cause significant distress and have a real negative impact on victims - I would encourage anyone who has information on those involved in crime to contact us."
