H&M in Ayr has shut its doors for good, it has been confirmed.

Last month, there was some conjecture that the store, located in Ayr Central Shopping Centre, was at risk of closure after the fashion retailer announced that it was to close 170 of its stores across Europe.

The fashion giant has now confirmed that H&M in Ayr has closed.

A H&M Spokesperson said: "H&M Ayr closed on Friday, November 20.

"At H&M we continuously review our store portfolio, the decision to close this particular store was part of the long-term strategy to ensure we are offering our customers the best possible shopping experience in the right locations.

"Customers can continue to shop for quality fashion at the best price online at hm.com and once local restrictions have eased customers will be able to shop at our Glasgow Silverburn and East Kilbride stores.”
