The team at Mossgiel Farm have some exciting plans for a cafe-cum-community space in Mauchline – they’re just waiting for the right space to become available.
They had planned to operate out of the pet store on Kilmarnock Road, which shut earlier this year, but sadly that deal fell through and now they are looking for another building to house their community initiative.
The plans are for a cafe space, selling local produce throughout the day, which can be used as a community space in the evenings.
Farmer Bryce Cunningham said: “We’ve seen the demise of community spaces in Mauchline throughout the years and we wanted to do something about it so we thought of creating a space that could be used as a community hub.”
It would also function as a centre for information on the surrounding area, with Bryce keen to big-up the area’s connection to Robert Burns and highlight the surrounding countryside to draw more people into Mauchline.
He said: “Historically, Mauchline seems to have been a hub of activity and it’s a shame people don’t know more about it. If we have this hub we can help with that, it could really drive tourism in the area.”
