AN INSURANCE salesman admitted securing nearly £9,000 through fraud.

Dalry man David Figgins, 55, pled guilty to the charge after dishonestly obtaining money through falsified commissions while working at Pelican Finance.

The Burnhouse Avenue resident admitted he falsified a number of insurance applications while working as an insurance sales advisor on various occasions between August 1 2016 and November 30, 2017.

Court papers state Figgins then pretended to the two directors of the firm that the information was correct and induced them to submit the papers to AIG Insurance in Glasgow to arrange false policies.

Figgins then received a sales commission of £8,743 through the offence.

Figgins pled guilty to an amended charge when he returned to Kilmarnock Sheriff Court to face the allegation last week [November 26].

He was ordered to return to Kilmarnock Sheriff Court for sentencing in January next year.
