A man has now been arrested after a drive-by shooting was reported in Beith.
Police confirmed they have arrested and charged a 28-year-old for alleged involvement on the incident in the town's Hawthorn Crescent last week [Thursday, December 3].
We previously reported how the mother and son were uninjured in the incident - with armed police seen in Cambusdoon Place in Pennyburn that night in connection with the shooting.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "A man has been arrested and charged in connection with a report of an alleged firearm being discharged towards a 53-year-old woman and a 19-year-old man in Beith.
"The incident happened on Hawthorn Crescent in the town, around 1.15am on Thursday, 3 December, and nobody was injured. Enquiries continue to establish the full circumstances.
“The 28-year-old man is due to appear at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court on Tuesday, December 8.”
