Ardrossan football ace Billy Gilmour could be set for a loan move to Rangers according to reports.

The Chelsea star was out of action for four months earlier this year after undergoing knee surgery.

However, the 19-year-old has impressed Frank Lampard on his return with the Blues boss labelling Gilmour's performance “outstanding” in last night’s Champions League draw with Krasnodar.

Now, reports in The Scottish Sun today claim that Gilmour could be set to return to Rangers – the club he left to join Chelsea in 2017 – on a loan deal.

It is understood the Ibrox side are keen on signing the young star until the end of the season.

Speaking about the possibility of such a move Lampard said: “I’m not sure about a loan. The way Billy trains and plays I can see him with us.

“So, I have to make sure the pathway is right. We have to think about what is best.”
