The number of NHS Ayrshire and Arran staff self-isolating has more than doubled in the past two weeks.

As of 8am this morning (January 22) 311 staff were currently self-isolating compared to 144 on January 8.

The health board confirmed today that 178 members of staff had tested positive for coronavirus while the other 133 had been told to self-isolate after being contacted by Test and Protect.

Dr Crawford McGuffie, medical director for NHS Ayrshire and Arran, said: "NHS Ayrshire and Arran has prepared extensively to deal with COVID-19 and continues to work to ensure we have the right resources, equipment and staffing in place.

"As of Friday, January 22, we currently have 178 staff self-isolating at home as a result of testing positive for coronavirus (COVID-19) and 133 staff self-isolating at home having been contacted by Test and Protect."
