Ardrossan’s Billy Gilmour has paid tribute to former Chelsea boss Frank Lampard after he was sacked as the club’s manager yesterday.
Lampard gave Gilmour his debut for the Blues in July 2019 in a pre-season friendly.
The 19-year-old made his Premier League debut a month later and in March 2020 received plaudits from players past and present as he was named man of the match in Chelsea’s 2-0 win over Liverpool in the FA Cup.
Gilmour posted on social media: “Thank you for giving me an opportunity and for your faith and trust in me. It's been an honour to learn from you.”
