AMAZING Aria McCart has been named the best hip hop dancer in the world under the age of six.

Little Aria, who just turned five last month, is taking everything in her stride though her proud mum says her daughter dances round the clock.

And this tiny dancer also won first place in the Lyrical Dance category.

But mum Amyleigh, who runs Dance Mafia in Saltcoats says she can’t take the credit as Aria has been enjoying lessons with Kilwinning’s Tracey Maguire.

“Aria has only just turned five but her spirit and determination is amazing, she dances 24/7.

“But she doesn’t listen to mum so I called on help from my former teacher Tracy to help and Aria has come on leaps and bounds with her help.”

And the dance school enjoyed a double celebration as 13 year-old Carlie McBlane was crowned number one in the 12-14 year category of Commercial Dance at the Express Yourself 2021 worldwide competition.

“Carlie is an outstanding dancer and she is so committed to her training,” beamed Amyleigh.

“The judges were wowed by Carlie’s sharp footwork, her energy and the motion through her body and everyone at Dance Mafia couldn’t be prouder of our girl.”

Lockdown hasn’t stopped the dedicated dancers and teachers from moving.

They have been holding dance lessons via Zoom and are now busy practising for the United Dance Organisaton Street Dance competitions.

And they will be entering teams as well as solo stars for the categories.

Amyleigh said: “COVID hasn’t stopped us and all the students are just amazing at showing up online and rehearsing on their own too.

“I set them weekly tasks and sometimes that involves getting the whole family involved.

“Yes, we are gutted we cannot attend competitions in person but in a way it has advantages too as the dancers don’t need to worry too much about costume and the judges are focusing solely on their dance moves.”

Amyleigh is keen to get more young people in Ayrshire dancing, adding: “If anyone reading this wants to start dancing, I am happy to help them get started just give Dance Mafia a message on Facebook..”
