A 42-year-old Stevenston man has been charged and cautioned by police after a delivery van crashed into a Kilbirnie takeaway yesterday (Monday).
The incident happened around 1.45pm when the van mounted the pavement and went through small barriers before hitting the Eastern Delights takeaway in the town's Bridge Street.
The 42-year-old was charged under Section 2 of the Road Traffic Act.
No injuries were reported and the building has since been made safe.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "About 1.45pm on Monday, February 22, police received reports of a single vehicle road traffic collision on Bridge Street, Kilbirnie.
"At this time a delivery van collided with a business premises causing structural damage and there were no reported injuries.
"A 42-year-old Stevenston man will be reported to the Procurator Fiscal for a road traffic offence.
"North Ayrshire Council Building Control attended the incident to work with the building owner to make the property safe."
