A MAN has appeared in court charged with causing the death of a motorcycle passenger on the A82 near Loch Lomond last year.

Gavin Aitken, 47, of West Dunbartonshire, appeared in private at Dumbarton Sheriff Court on Friday morning.

He is charged under section 1 of the Road Traffic Act 1988 with causing death by dangerous driving.

The 47-year-old made no plea or declaration and was committed for further examination. Sheriff John Hamilton granted him bail.

Liam Scott, 21, originally from Kilwinning, died in hospital on September 2, 2020, two days after a crash on the trunk road between Duck Bay Marina and Arden.

Mr Scott was reportedly a passenger on the motorbike involved.

A 23-year-old man who was at the controls of the motorbike was injured, but was later discharged from hospital.
