A man was taken to hospital after a crash on the A78 near Hunterston last night.

Emergency services rushed to the scene shortly after 8pm following reports of a crash between a car and a tractor.

The driver of the car was taken to hospital after suffering minor injuries.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Officers were called to a two-vehicle road traffic crash at around 8:12pm on Monday March 8 on the A78 near to the Hunterston power station roundabout. 

"Police, ambulance and fire all attended.

"A car and a tractor and trailer had collided. The male driver of the car suffered minor injuries and was conveyed to hospital for treatment."

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson added: “We were alerted at 8.18pm on Monday, March 8 to reports of a collision involving one tractor and a car at the A78 near Hunterston Power Station, North Ayrshire.

“Operations Control mobilised one appliance to the scene.

“Firefighters assisted their emergency service partners by ensuring the area was made safe.”
