Contact tracing was conducted at the Lidl store in Dalry after a “small number” of coronavirus cases were reported.

The store remains open and underwent a “thorough clean and disinfecting procedure out of hours".

The NHS Test and Protect Team have been in contact with the store and have asked several individuals to self-isolate.

A spokesperson for Lidl confirmed that there has been a "small number of positive cases" and said: “To confirm, our Dalry store is open as normal, with all current COVID measures in place.

“All supermarkets continue to operate under exceptional circumstances, and the safety of our colleagues and customers remains our top priority.

“As with other retailers, we are closely following and adhering to government guidance and following all necessary steps when made aware of any positive cases.

“We understand the crucial role our team plays in the local community, and as such, in addition to our thorough daily hygiene measures, our Dalry store underwent a thorough clean and disinfecting procedure out of hours, to ensure households have access to the food and products they need.”

Dr Joy Tomlinson, Joint Director of Public Health, added: “NHS Ayrshire and Arran’s Test and Protect team has conducted contact tracing within a workplace in North Ayrshire.

“A number of individuals have been contacted by the Test and Protect team and told to self-isolate at home for 10 days.

“All relevant Public Health measures are in place and our Public Health Team is working with North Ayrshire Environmental Health Officers to manage and monitor the situation.

“We would like to remind people of the symptoms of COVID-19 - a new persistent cough; high temperature; and / or loss of taste and smell. Anyone who develops symptoms should book a test and self-isolate immediately.”
