SALTCOATS hairdresser Jennifer Reeves is offering free haircuts for anyone who has suffered a hard time during the lockdown.

Jennifer, who owns Therapy at the Registry, is offering the free cut and style to anyone who has lost their job, lost loved ones or lost their business.

The busy hairdresser decided to offer the service at the end of the first lockdown and wanted to offer it again once the salon opened its doors again on Monday.

“It has been an incredible tough time for everyone in our community,” said Jennifer.

“People have lost their loved ones, lost their jobs and some have even lost their own businesses.

“It was tough for the team at the Registry but we have made it through and I wanted to give something back so I decided to offer the free hair cuts to people. It’s not a huge offering but it might help someone who is struggling or needs a wee boost.”

At the moment, the salon has only the hairdressers working but Jennifer is hopeful that the beauty therapists can return on April 26 when the lockdown is eased further.

Jennifer went on: “We miss our clients so much and although we are very busy I will be coming in on my days off to make sure anyone who needs help from us will get it.

“We have strict measures in place and have a lot of room for our clients to make sure they are comfortable when they come into the salon.”

Client Willie Jacks was one of the first to return to the Registry and he said: “I can’t wait to have my hair done.

“I used clippers during the lockdown but you need the professionals to make you feel good. I love coming here, the girls are a great bunch and no one has had an easy time of it.”

Jennifer’s next goal is celebrating the Registry’s third birthday in November and she said: “It’s giving me a focus. Hopefully everything will be open up and we will have some sense of normality.

“It will be great to create a buzz and have our team of stylists, beauty therapists, permanent make-up artists and our dietician here again.”
