A NORTH Ayrshire fish and chip shop has been named as one of the best in the UK for takeaways.
The Fish Works in Largs received the accolade from Fry Magazine who announced the winners of their top 50 best takeaways earlier this week.
The popular seafront eatery was joined by another Ayrshire takeaway in the top 50 with A Plaice to Be in Kilmarnock also included in the UK-wide list.
The top 50 list is decided from unannounced mystery dining visits.
Shops and mobile units were marked on over 40 aspects of their business, from the quality of the food and customer service to their social media presence and their COVID safety practices.
Other Scottish winners include:
- Dunkeld Fish Bar, Dunkeld, Perth and Kinross
- East Coast, Musselburgh, East Lothian
- McLeod's Fish and Chips, Inverness
- The Cafe Royal, Annan, Dumfriesshire
Tony's On The Go, Coatbridge, North Lanarkshire, was named in the top 10 for best mobile units.
