Police in North Ayrshire issued a record number of fines for coronavirus rule breaches last month according to new figures.
In March, officers in the local authority area issued 69 fixed penalty notices (FPNs) a record high since the pandemic started.

Six people were also arrested for breaking the COVID-19 regulations.
27 of the 69 FPNs issued during March and five out of the six arrests made came on the weekend of March 6-7.

The previous high for fines issued in one month in North Ayrshire was in February 2021 where 64 FPNs were handed out.
