AN ARDROSSAN church could be set to be turned into flats in plans to help preserve the historic building after it was recently re-sold.

The Barony St John’s building was bought earlier in the year by Tom Easton, Managing Director of V2 Construction, who hopes to preserve the building after a spur of the moment purchase.

He told the Herald a feasibility study is ongoing with the building hoped to be used for luxury flats – with the potential use for offices or a venue.

Tom said: “I bought it in the spur of the moment and have had chats with planning already who are very supportive.

“Right now we’re doing a study on the building on the full condition to save it and see what the best fit for it is.

“We’re talking about luxury flats, but we’re not sure how many yet or how big they are going to be – then there’s options of offices or even a venue. It will not happen overnight but we are planning on saving the building and doing something with it.

“It’s still actually not that bad condition – the roof is ready to come in right enough – but the organ and everything is still there, so we’re looking to see what we can save and what we can move about.”
