Stevenston wrestler and Scot Squad star Grado has announced that he and his partner, Stephanie, are expecting their first child.

Taking to social media to share the good news, Grado, real name Graeme Stevely, said the pair were 'delighted'.

He also made an emotional statement during his presenting role on Go Radio, saying 'it came as a shock' but that 'everyone's excited, my family are buzzing... my dad's going to be a papa again and her [Stephanie] dad's going to be a papa again so it's exciting.'

The baby is due in November 2021.

Thought I’d share our good news - going to be a Dad, delighted!

And it wasn't long before a flurry of well wishes poured in from fans and industry colleagues, such as Irvine's own Britain's Got Talent winner Jai McDowall who took to Twitter, commenting 'Congratulations to you both' while River City actress Leah MacRae wrote, 'Auch pal. That's the BERRIES!!!! So chuffed for you'.

Grado is well known for his role in BBC spoof comedy series Scot Squad and Two Doors Down as well as for his successful international wrestling career.

Speaking to Ardrossan and Saltcoats Herald last year, Grado said: "I’ve wrestled in places in Mexico where people have shouted “tap end a Stevenston”. When I wrestle in America too I always make sure that they say where I come from, not Glasgow, Ayrshire.

"I think it’s such a Scottish thing to be proud of where you come from. Growing up with your pals you always think your town’s the best, your Boys' Brigade is the best, you’re school is the best.

"It’s ingrained in you that where you’re from is the best. I’ll always include the tap end of Stevenston on the radio when I speak about Ayrshire. It’s local pride."
