A NEW exhibition hopes to examine the lives of female ICI workers and needs help from anyone who worked at the factory.

Oral history assistant for Garnock Connections, Denize Jacques, is looking for women who can share their experience of life at the Ardeer site.

Her project, Working Voices, will see Denise gather recordings of the women’s memories of their lives at the factory or of memories of the area and the workers.

Denise had previously worked on the Working Voices project and exhibition for the maritime museum in Irvine which is now live on their website.

And now she wants to find out all she can about the lives of the women who worked at Nobel and ICI.

It is part of Garnock Connections latest project and Denise explained: “We are a landscape partnership aiming to conserve the natural and cultural heritage of the local area.

“My role is to help local communities with recording oral history as well as running my own oral history project, Working Voices.

“I would love to speak to women who worked at the factory or have memories they would be happy to talk about and share with

people.

“My hope is to host an exhibition of their memories, similar to the project in Irvine at the maritime museum as I am sure they have some fascinating stories to tell.”
