A POPULAR cafe has announced it will be closing its doors after serving customers in the West End for more than a decade. 

Bosses at Artisan Roast announced that Saturday will be the spot's last day in business for the foreseeable future. 

The Gibson Street shop shared the news via Facebook, thanking its customers for the "enthusiasm" and "generosity" over the years.

The post reads: "Although the space has served as a trusted coffee hub for over a decade, we had begun to acknowledge the need for major upgrades to meet our ambitions as a café.

"This process was cut short by the pandemic, and in the earlier stages of prospective uncertainty, we made the decision to leave our current premises and strive for a more suitable location.

"Fast forward past long winter queues and high spring buzz, it is with mixed feelings that we’re now having to stick to our commitment and say goodbye to the old gal."

Bosses hope to reopen another venue in Glasgow in the "near future".

The statement continues: "Our hope is to establish another base in Glasgow in the near future, and at the moment we’re still on the lookout for a spot that can meet our needs. If you come across anything interesting, feel free to let us know."
