A THUG who left a victim disfigured in a vicious attack with a coffee table and frame is in custody awaiting sentence.

Craig Grant, 24, admitted assaulting the man and threatening him not to phone the police before later failing to turn up to court.

Grant, of Townhead Street, Dalry, attacked the victim while acting with another in Peden Avenue on either October 14 and 15 last year.

He repeatedly struck him on the head with the coffee table and a canvas frame all to his severe injury and permanent disfigurement. He then made threats of violence and told the victim not to telephone the police and also stole a mobile phone at the same address.

The bailed offender also admitted to a fourth charge of failing to turn up in court on October 20 and being ordered not to commit any criminal offences on his conditions.

Grant pled guilty to all four charges on the Crown’s indictment when he appeared at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court [Thursday, May 13].

Sentencing was adjourned for social work reports and a restriction of liberty order assessment and he was held in custody.
