A man has been taken to hospital after being recovered from the water near Princes Street in Ardrossan tonight.
Earlier this evening, we reported how there was a multi-agency response taking place behind the Robertson Fine Foods slaughterhouse on Princes Street due to a person in distress.
Police have since confirmed that a man was recovered from the water and has been taken to Crosshouse Hospital for treatment.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "We were made aware of a man in the water off Princes Street in Ardrossan shortly after 5.05pm on Tuesday, June 1.
"The man was recovered with the assistance of the HM Coastguard and he has been taken to Crosshouse Hospital by ambulance for treatment.
"Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances."
