The search continues for a 19-year-old man who went missing from his home in Saltcoats two weeks ago, with police saying they are 'extremely concerned'.

Cops are re-appealing to the public for any information on the whereabouts of teenager Jamie Cannon who was last seen around 10am on Thursday, May 20 on Kinnier Road.

Local officers have been assisted by specialist officers, including search advisors and the dog unit, but there have been no further sightings of him. They say the teen's family are "extremely distressed" by his disappearance as it is so out of character.

Jamie is described as being 6ft 1ins tall, with short dark hair. When he was last seen he was wearing grey jogging bottoms, grey trainers, a blue jacket and was carrying a camouflage backpack.

Sergeant Allen Dodds said: “Despite previous appeals and extensive searches and enquiries to trace Jamie, we have been unable to locate him. As time goes on, we are extremely concerned as he has never been missing before and it is entirely out of character for him not to keep in contact with his family and friends.

“Understandably, his family is extremely distressed by his disappearance and just want to know that he is safe and well. I would urge anyone who has seen Jamie, or who has any information on his whereabouts to contact us as soon as possible through 101 quoting reference 1623 of 22 May.”
