More than 40 new homes are set to be built in Saltcoats in the second stage of a new housing development.

Persimmons was granted permission for another 41 houses and infrastructure North of Arran View Nursing Home – with previously approved homes under construction.

A Persimmon statement said: “The current proposal is for 41 terraced, semi-detached and detached private homes on a 1.4 hectare site and also includes open space, landscaping and associated infrastructure.

“Access to the site will be taken from the existing distributor road to the east. A link road has been incorporated within the layout at the west of the site allowing for future access into allocated land adjacent. The link to the west aligns with the access at the east creating a continuous 5.5m wide link from east to west through the site.

“It is accepted that the existing junction is suitable for up to 200 units both in the proposed site and future phases without the need for a secondary access.

“A pedestrian link has also been proposed to connect to the existing footpath at the south west of the site which ensures that there is pedestrian connectivity to the wider area.”
