PUPILS at James Reid School in Saltcoats decided the best way to say farewell to their school as they prepare to go to their new Lockhart Campus was to host a fun day to remember.

The school’s pupil council had raised funds during the year and teacher Miss Smith’s father, who is the Chieftain of the Ardrossan Highland Games, also raised money for the school.

The school hosted a Nerf gun rally.

So they decided to make a special day of memories before getting ready to head to the new school in the next term.

And on Wednesday the pupils arrived at school to see giant inflatable slides, old fashioned fairground rides and inside the school a pamper room where they could have their nails painted.

They could also play in a giant ball pit and even take part in a Nerf gun assault course.

The whole school day was turned into a funfair and to the pupils’ surprise, an ice cream van arrived at the playground to treat everyone to a cone and a juice.

Asda and Tesco also helped supply the pupils with juice and snacks and Austin Powers even made an appearance.

Miss Perritt said: “We had some funds left over from the pupils council and we were thinking about vouchers, but we thought a fun day for the pupils would be a fantastic memory to share.

“We had arranged the day to make sure that there was fun for everyone all day and we had an ice cream van come along too. It certainly will be a special memory.”
