A NEW Turkish-style barber is to open in Ardrossan’s Princes Street in the unit that was once Ladbrokes.

The premises are currently in the process of renovation by its new owners and the Herald understands that "Coast Barbers" is due to open for customers later this month.

Number 53 was taken over earlier this year after the betting company put the property up on the market.

It had lain empty for over a year.

Ladbrokes shut up shop in Ardrossan in January 2020. In 2019, the betting industry warned of the impact that reducing stakes from £100 to £2 on fixed odds betting terminals would have – a measure implemented on April 1, 2019.

It was also reported at the time that two members of staff in the Saltcoats shop were made redundant after 30 years service to the betting company.
