A TEENAGE boy who was held in custody for the attempted killing of a young man who later died following a disturbance in Kilwinning last month has now been charged with murder.
The 17-year-old from Kilwinning, who cannot be named for legal reasons due to his age, appeared in court for a full committal hearing on Thursday, June 3, where he was charged with the murder of 19-year-old Daryll Wright. He entered no plea and was released on bail.
It follows the incident on Saturday, May 22 when at around 2.30am police received a report of a disturbance in a lane at the rear of Ladyford Avenue in the town.
Emergency services attended and Daryll, pictured left, of Coatbridge, was
taken to Crosshouse Hospital where he died on Monday, May 24.
The male from Kilwinning appeared at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court on Tuesday, May 25 where he was originally charged with attempted murder.
