A 37-year-old man has been seriously injured after a disturbance on Arthur Street in Stevenston yesterday evening.
The man was taken to Crosshouse Hospital for treatment, although his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
A 44-year-old man has been arrested and will appear in Kilmarnock Sherriff Court today (June 11) in connection with the incident.
Arthur Street in Stevenston has remained closed with eye-witness reports suggesting that the road has been closed off since 9 pm.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "We were made aware of a disturbance at a property on Arthur Street in Stevenston around 6.40 pm on Thursday, 10 June.
"A 37-year-old man suffered serious injuries in the incident and was taken to Crosshouse Hospital in Kilmarnock for treatment. His injuries are not believed to life-threatening.
"A 44-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with the incident and is expected to appear at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court on Friday, 11 June."
