Residents across Ayrshire are being encouraged to come forward for the second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine at further drop-in opportunities across the region.

Latest data shows that 64.6% of the adult population in Ayrshire have received two doses of the vaccine.

Against the backdrop of rising local cases and increasing numbers of the Delta variant in our communities, the NHS Ayrshire & Arran Public Health Team is reminding everyone that the best protection against the virus comes from having both doses of vaccine.

Anyone who had their first dose of either Pfizer BioNTech or Oxford/Astrazeneca vaccine on or before 22 March 2021 and who hasn’t yet received their second dose – for whatever reason – should come to a vaccination clinic close to them as soon as possible.

Drop-in opportunities for this group are available on the following dates and locations in Ayrshire:

Wednesday June 16, Thursday June 17, Friday June 18 and Saturday June 19:

  • Galleon Centre, Kilmarnock
  • John Pollock Centre, Ayr
  • Ardrossan Civic Centre

On Sunday June 20:

  • Cumnock Town Hall
  • Greenwood Conference Centre, Dreghorn

All clinics will be running from 8.30am to 7.30pm on the dates listed. Simply come along and mention to a marshal or staff at the registration desk that you are attending for second dose and you will be welcomed by the vaccination team on a drop-in basis.

Director of Public Health Lynne McNiven said: “We know the vaccine is having a positive impact locally, by offering protection against the virus, cutting the number of people being hospitalised and tending to reduce the severity of illness in those who get COVID-19.

"The best protection you can get is by having both of the doses – don’t leave the job half done. If you have had one dose already, and it was given before 22 March please now come forward for your second vaccine as soon as possible.”
