THE team behind the plans to revamp Ardrossan South Beach are on a mission to create 100 bespoke deckchairs for the community to use.

Last month, Ardrossan Community Development Trust was given £250,000 from the National Lottery to start its plans on building a giant playground at South Beach.

And part of the plan is to gift 100 bespoke deckchairs to the community to use at their leisure and for organised events such as movie screenings.

But they want to name each chair in honour of a person linked to Ardrossan.

The first 50 have

been given names but now they need your help to name 50 more deckchairs.

Chairman of Ardrossan Community Development Trust Scott Mould said: “The deckchair project will see 100 custom designed deckchairs available for residents, visitors and community groups, which will provide some fun and games at South Beach this summer and beyond.

“These chairs can be used to sit and enjoy the lovely views, but we also want to have some fun with these and make them meaningful for Ardrossan.

“Each chair will have one word printed on it that reflects something about the town.

“We are looking for the community to get involved by nominating words for the next 50 chairs, each word nominated by the community must be a person’s name associated with Ardrossan. It could even be the name of someone you know, a local character or perhaps a local hero or shero, someone who makes Ardrossan brighter and better and may well form part of our future history.

“We are open to any suggestions for these 50 deckchairs.”
