The Jacks Road junior park run restarted on Sunday after a long pause due to coronavirus restrictions.

Youngsters were able to return to the weekly 2k fun run event, that takes place at NAAC Athletics Arena at St Matthew’s Academy in Saltcoats, for the first time since March 2020.

John Stewart, secretary for Jacks Road Park Run told the Herald: “Last Sunday saw the long-awaited return of Junior Parkrun to the Athletics Track.

“Seventeen young people took part in a very successful run in lovely, dry weather. There were personal bests aplenty and a good time was had by all.

“Many thanks to the volunteers who make this event possible.

“Unfortunately for the next few weeks we are limited to 4–10 year olds only.”
