The Ruby team of midwives from Crosshouse Hospital have been taking part in a challenge to walk 100km by the end of June.

They’re walking in support of SANDS – a leading stillbirth and neonatal death charity.

Karen Auld, one of the midwives taking part, said: “After seeing the SANDS appeal for 100km, I thought it would be a good way of keeping my fitness levels up when I returned to full clinical duties.

“The team came on board and we are now walking 3km on our lunch breaks and are well on track to achieving the 100km target by the end of June.

“We see first-hand the devastating effects the death of a baby brings to women and their families. So it’s heart-warming to see so many of the team involved, supporting and creating awareness of such as great charity.”
