The countdown to the Dalry and West Kilbride By-Election is officially underway following the publication of the Notice of Election yesterday (June 23).
Voters in the Dalry and West Kilbride Ward will go to the polls on Thursday, August 12, to elect a new local member following the recent resignation of Joy Brahim.
Prospective candidates have until 4pm on Friday, July 9, to submit their nomination papers.
Nomination packs can be downloaded from the Council’s website or obtained by contacting the Election Office.
Anyone wishing to submit nominations is asked to make an appointment with the Election Office.
Voting will open for registered electors in the Dalry and West Kilbride Ward at 7 am on August 12 and polling places will remain open until 10 pm.
The count, which is carried out electronically, will be held the following day, Friday, August 13.
Those wishing to find out more about registering to vote – including obtaining a postal vote –can do so by contacting the Electoral Registration Office here.
Residents have until midnight on Monday, July 26, to register in time to vote in the By-Election. The deadline for postal applications is 5 pm on Tuesday, July 27.
