Senjokai Karate’s Chief Instructor Liam Gallagher says the East Ayrshire club has seen a huge boost in new members with the easing of lockdown restrictions.

Due to previous restrictions on contact sports the club moved fully online at the start of the year for everything including classes, gradings and even sparring.

However, with the easing of restrictions in recent months the Cumnock branch of the club are now back training in person twice a week.

Due to the Town Hall still being used for vaccinations, the club now trains on a Monday at Old Cumnock Church Hall and on Wednesday at Netherthird Community Hall.

Gallagher says the club have bounced back from restrictions better than he could have ever imagined.

“We have absolutely exploded back; it has been amazing and in Cumnock the membership has almost doubled since we came back to in person classes.

“In the last eight weeks across all of our clubs across East Ayrshire we have over 100 new members join us, so we have roared back more than we ever expected.”
