Kilbirnie Ladeside announced a new management team last week with co-managers Thomas Molloy and Shaun Dillon taking over the reigns at Valefield Park.

Player Martin McBride had been filling in as caretaker manager at the club since Martin Ferry left the club on mutual terms at the start of the month.

The club announced last week that they had found permanent replacements for the roles with Dillon and Molloy joining from Greenock Juniors.

Speaking to the Herald, Molloy said: “The situation at Greenock was I was the manager and Dillon was my assistant, but we had always said if we move clubs we will do it together.

“So when the offer came in for Kilbirnie, with the size of the club, it was a no brainer decision to move.”

The duo managed their first game at the weekend in the 2-0 loss to Cumbernauld in the Scottish Junior Cup First Round.

Molloy says it was a strange introduction to life at the club, having only met the players for the first time before kick off.

“We took over on Friday officially, so it was a pretty unusual situation because we only met the players just over an hour before it started.

“So I am glad we have not got a midweek game this week and we can take training ahead of the Rutherglen game next weekend.

“We also will hopefully have some signings lined up too this week.”
