ART enthusiast Ian Roberts has found a venue for a pop up gallery in Saltcoats.

Gallery Sometimes will be taking over the shop next to Tickety Boo at 94 Dockhead Street this month.

And now Ian needs artists in the area to come forward and submit work to be put on show at the gallery.

Ian wants artists, especially those who don’t consider themselves ‘proper’ artists but just lack a showcase for their work, to get in touch with him to be featured from September 14 until September 25.

He said: “We are delighted to have a new gallery venue at Dockhead Street, right in the heart of the town centre.

“For four years the West Kilbride gallery was a great success and a platform for artists and I wanted to show that it could work in another town.

“We have had great support from people in the community and the Ayrshire Community Trust, TACT, have been a great support for the Gallery Sometimes project.

“It is a great location and the community really helped us find it.

“Now, we need artists to come forward and be part of this pop up gallery and nobody will be turned away, it’s a showcase for everybody’s creativity... no matter what level you’re at, get in touch and we will find a place for you.”

The art gallery will be open Tuesdays to Saturdays each week.

Ian went on: “It’s a great opportunity for artists to show their work locally and for people to have the chance to visit a gallery on their doorstep.

“I would encourage anyone who likes to create art to get in touch and have a chat about the gallery with me.”
