Bobby’s Bar AFC will be hosting a memorial match for their former player and friend Stephen Slavin on Friday September 24.

Stephen tragically passed away aged just 37 in a swimming accident when he was on holiday on the Isle of Lewis in August 2020.

He was a well known character in the local three towns community and well respected player in the amateur game.

In his football career, he is probably best known for scoring the winning goal in The Scottish Cup Semi-Final which led to his team “The Geet” earning their place in the final at Livingston’s Stadium.

His family wish for the proceeds from the charity match to go to the RNLI to help them to continue their great work.

The lifeguards keep watch on 240 of the busiest beaches in the UK and Channel Islands. And their safety teams work hard to stop people getting into trouble in the first place.

The game kicks off at 6pm at Ardeer Stadium, Stevenston with entrance fee of £3. Entertainment will be provided by Dance Mafia Showtime and DJ Sinki, with a top-prize raffle thanks to generous donations from Three Towns businesses.
