AN AYR author who beat breast cancer whilst releasing her first novel during lockdown is to speak at the Scottish Book Festival this weekend.
Yvonne Hendrie had her debut novel, The Water Bailiff’s Daughter, published last year, and her publisher, Stairwell Books of York, have gathered together its northern authors, several of whom live in Scotland or have a Scottish connection, for a two day festival featuring readings, interviews and a book fair at the Scottish Storytelling Centre.
Yvonne told the Advertiser: “On the Friday evening, I’ll be headlining at an author event along with two other authors. Rebecca Smith and Bob Beagrie, Rebecca is the several-times-great-niece of Jane Austen.
“I’ll be reading and be interviewed by my publisher, and answering questions from the audience. It will be live streamed by Channel 7A Video Productions. The event is 6.30-8pm.
“I will be reading again at the book fair on Saturday, which is 10-4pm, and will feature readings from 12 authors. They will all be available to chat with readers. As well as books from Stairwell, the fair will also feature other independent publishers.”
Tickets are £5, available from the Scottish Storytelling Centre, and count as a voucher towards book purchases the next day.
