A NEW Cumnock pupil has laid a wreath at Knockshinnoch memorial cairn to mark 71 years since the disaster.
Megan, pictured above, who attends New Cumnock Primary School, represented the town’s young people at the memorial service which was held last
week.
She was joined at the event by community council chair Marie Walker. The disaster saw 13 miners lose their lives at Knockshinnoch Castle Colliery on September 7 1950.
