SIGNS have appeared along Glasgow Street, Princes Street and South Beach in Ardrossan with details of the plans for regenerating Ardrossan.

The ambitious project, Ardrossan Connections, is being run by national cycle network Sustrans, North Ayrshire Council, The National Transport Agency for Scotland and the Ardrossan Community Development Trust.

The project wants to improve the cycle path in the area leading from North Shore along the Marina and Princes Street, taking in Glasgow Street and ending up at South Beach.

A series of online meetings and workshops with community groups and residents have been taking place throughout lockdown and the hope is to work on these in the coming months at face to face events.

Plans include bringing history to life throughout the area and one of the most interesting proposals is a giant mural at the side of a building at Princes Street and Glasgow Street charting the town’s history.

It is hoped that the project will be finalised and installed by the end of 2022 and the start of 2023 with a number of workshops planned for the end of this year with Sustrans.
