SALTCOATS cyclist Mark McCann has proved he has true pedal power after completing the Scottish equivalent of the Tour de France.

Mark, who works for Ineos in Grangemouth, was asked to take part in the challenge with his colleagues.

Together they would complete the 2,200 miles around Scotland and if they finished the race would be given £1,000 for a charity of their choice.

So, Mark, a keen cyclist, got on his bike to complete each stage of the Tour de France with his very own Tour de Scotland, cycling up and down the country over the last few weeks to meet his weekly 250 mile target.

And this week he cycled along to Ardrossan Community Sports Hub to give the £1,000 donation to chairperson Scott Mould and gym manager David Thompson.

Mark said: “It was a great challenge to be part of as I got to cycle around Scotland and see places I had never seen to make up the miles.

“I would like to thank everyone who supported me and Ineos for setting up the challenge.”
